This was the case as early as the beginning of the 19th century when the city architects consciously planted green areas to give the urban landscape a magnificent appearance. Wiesbaden has changed over the years, but the green areas and, in particular, the trees still shape the face of the city. The straight rows of trees around the city serve to structure the cityscape and, at the same time, provide pleasant shade on the streets, delight with their blossoms and lend the architecture both a decorative and invigorating setting.
Meeting & celebrating in a green setting
Whatever event location you opt for, you are always surrounded by greenery – be it the RheinMain CongressCenter, the Kurhaus or the Jagdschloss Platte.
The RMCC is situated just five minutes on foot from the main train station and is separated from this by the lush, green Herbert- und Reisinger-Anlage with ducks and Egyptian geese. The 3.4-hectare park provides a direct connection from the main train station to the city centre and also serves as the setting for your event if it is taking place in the Terrassensaal.
The Kurhaus provides not only the familiar historic ambience for your event but also a special feelgood atmosphere: you meet & celebrate quasi “in the park”. Large windows in the Salon Carl Schuricht and in the Muschelsaal give you a view of the green areas at the Nizzaplätchen and a setting including the Kurpark with pond! And with our beautiful wintergarden bathed in light you also have an adjoining terrace in the Kurpark. The terrace is all yours and can be used according to your wishes, whether as an extension of the internal area, for catering or a flying buffet or simply to enjoy the atmosphere and the view of the park with your guests.
Even more greenery awaits you in Jagdschloss Platte – an event location on the crest of the Taunus 500 metres above the city in the Rhein-Taunus Nature Park. You can use the adjoining outside area that belongs to the location for a reception or wedding celebration. A special highlight is a viewing platform on the top floor under the glass roof construction: from there you have a fantastic view of the state capital of Wiesbaden and the green Rhine valley.
Tree protection in Wiesbaden
However, trees are not only a visual delight, but also of essential importance for the urban climate. They are true air improvers, cool the environment, reduce dust pollution and create habitats. Trees also keep noise away from us. Even a single tree noticeably dampens noise, and a 20 to 25 metre wide strip of forest has a similar effect to a noise barrier.
In order to preserve, secure and further develop this form in the long term, the new tree protection statute for the state capital Wiesbaden was passed in February 2007.
The aim of these statutes is to preserve the tree population in Wiesbaden in order to sustainably safeguard the cityscape and the urban climate. This goal is in harmony with the interests of the citizens of this city. Therefore, the tree protection statutes allow exceptions from tree protection in justified cases. However, the basic rule is that after the approved removal of a tree, a replacement planting should take place as compensation.
