Safety plays a significant role in the planning and execution of events
Germany is one of the safest countries in the world
In the Global Peace Index, which uses different indicators to evaluate the level of peace in 163 countries in the world, Germany regularly ranks among the top states. In 2023 the Federal Republic was ranked in the leading group in 15th place.
Germany also strongly identifies itself with topics such as peace, safety and human rights. When in Germany, event organisers and guests can therefore rely on high safety standards and thus a functioning judicial and policing system.
Wiesbaden is also considered a socially integrative city with high standards in terms of gender equality and inclusion, meaning that guests can feel safe at all times when participating in events in our city. For example, Wiesbaden was the host city for the Indonesian team during the Special Olympic World Games in Berlin in 2023.
Facts
Wiesbaden is situated in the Rhine-Main area in one of Germany’s metropolitan regions. Nevertheless, the historic small city with some 300,000 residents is more manageable and thus safer than the neighbouring Hessian metropolis Frankfurt.
All of the event venues, hotels, many sights, parks and restaurants as well as the train station are located in the centre of the city and within walking distance of one another. Wiesbaden is considered to be not only a very green town but also a commercial and cultural hub and thus one of Germany’s wealthiest cities.
Close proximity to the international Frankfurt Airport – just 30 minutes by train – makes Wiesbaden easily and comfortably accessible for travellers.
Why the RheinMain CongressCenter in Wiesbaden is predestined to be a safe event venue:
- The RMCC is located in Wiesbaden city centre. Everything can be reached safely on foot from here: the hotels, the main train station, several parks, the main sights, many shops and restaurants.
- The CongressCenter has its own detailed safety concept with special safety requirements for major events. The safety concept was drawn up in consultation with the authorities responsible for safety and order, in particular the police, the fire brigade and the ambulance service.
- The RMCC is characterised by close contact to the authorities as a municipal venue. The cooperation of the security staff, fire safety guard and first-aid service with the police, the fire brigade and the ambulance service must be guaranteed for all events.
- As a modern event venue, the RMCC has the highest safety standards. A large number of exits, fire doors and gates function as escape routes and air inlets in the building. The entire building is fitted with a full-coverage, automatic fire alarm system which guarantees that the Wiesbaden Fire Brigade is notified immediately when triggered. There is a complete fire service access route around the building as well as several possible fire brigade access points from the outside and an easily accessible point for tackling fire.
The building is monitored by an automatic extinguishing system to contain the outbreak and prevent the spread of a fire in time. The extinguishing system can thus be used as a fire detector at the same time, as once triggered, the extinguishing system sets off the fire alarm system. The extinguishing system consists of a sprinkler system and a deluge extinguishing system. - A comprehensive evacuation concept, which comes into effect if there is an emergency during an event, is provided for the purpose of enabling all persons to evacuate the building via escape routes and emergency routes and proceed to the relevant assembly areas.
- The CongressCenter cooperates with specially trained and experienced security partners who have the expertise required to protect highly sensitive projects or conference delegates.
- Both the RMCC and the historic Kurhaus have many years of experience in organising receptions, meetings and events for government, the police, the army and investigating authorities. Furthermore, Wiesbaden’s vaccination centre was located in the RMCC during the peak phase of the corona pandemic – the team was in regular contact with many authorities during this time.
