When it comes to mobility, Wiesbaden scores points in terms of urbanity and infrastructure within walking distance. Once in the city, a multitude of event locations, hotels, restaurants, parks and the city centre can be reached on foot.
The RMCC is only a 5-minute walk from Wiesbaden's main railway station. From the RMCC you can reach at least 5 major hotels within a 10-minute walk. The Kurhaus Wiesbaden can be reached by a 10-minute walk along the purnkvolle Wilhelmstraße and through the parks.
Theoretically, conference guests do not need any means of transport to move between the train station, location and hotels - depending on the hotel, of course.
Wiesbaden pedestrian model city
Different event locations and the most important facilities can be reached comfortably on foot in Wiesbaden. From the large convention centre and smaller event locations to restaurants, theatres, museums and overnight accommodation, almost everything is within walking distance in Wiesbaden, thus making yours a “green” event.
The RheinMain CongressCenter is just a few minutes' walk (five, to be precise) from Wiesbaden's main railway station! For your event guests, this means not only being climate and environmentally friendly, but also travelling in a healthy way and being able to explore the city comfortably between events.
There is also an abundance of overnight accommodation in the direct vicinity.
Wiesbaden is also committed to further enhancing the pedestrian experience for residents and visitors to the city and is developing long-term pedestrian strategies.
The professional pedestrian association, FUSS e.V. in Bierstadt is conducting a thorough pedestrian check as part of the "Gut gehen lassen – Bündnis für attraktiven Fußverkehr" (opens in a new tab) (“Step by Step – Alliance for Attractive Pedestrian Traffic”) project. Missing cycle lane connections, blind crossroads and dangerous crossings as well as other "pedestrian brakes" are being identified. Measures for removing the deficits and improving the conditions for pedestrian traffic are then proposed, which are subsequently rolled out to other districts. The FUSS e.V. project will run until April 2023 and is financed by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection and by the German Environment Agency.
Bicycle infrastructure
Since the installation of the city bicycle office in 2018 and the tenfold increase in the annual cycling budget, many important projects for the promotion of bicycle traffic (Förderung des Radverkehrs (opens in a new tab)) have been implemented in Wiesbaden and thus bicycle traffic strengthened as a whole.
The expansion of new bicycle connections in the city area and the refurbishment of existing cycle lanes ensure increased safety and comfort. An uninterrupted basic network of protected cycle lanes (“Protected bike lanes (opens in a new tab)”) is, for example, a further measure taken by the city to enable cyclists to travel quickly without a car in the city centre.
Rent a bicycle
Visitors to events can use rental bicycles for quick, spontaneous travel in the city. They can choose between the orange-coloured rental bicycles from "Call a Bike (opens in a new tab)" and "Nextbike (opens in a new tab)". Simply register and activate, and off you go.
Rewards with the DB Rad+ bicycle app
The city of Wiesbaden has been offering the DB Rad+ bicycle app in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn for a year now to motivate people to use a bicycle more frequently. Cyclists who collect kilometres with Rad+ can redeem them for reductions at partners of the app or use them to pay for a cappuccino, apples or even admission to the Museum Wiesbaden.
Whilst the app users have a direct incentive by cycling, everyone profits from better air and less climate-damaging CO2 when the bicycle replaces the car.

Thanks to an e-subsidy from the Federal Government and an e-mobility concept (opens in a new tab) in Wiesbaden, the number of electrically powered vehicles in Wiesbaden is continuing to rise. The charging infrastructure is being continually expanded in parallel. ESWE Versorgung currently operates over 130 public charging stations in Wiesbaden and the region (eight of which are in the underground carpark of the RMCC and two in front of the Jagdschloss Platte).
E-motorists charge their vehicles here with 100 percent ESWE natural electricity. Type 2 points with 22 kilowatt output are available for public charging, E-vehicles can thus be charged up to ten times faster than at a normal household socket. Any e-car can be connected using the right cable – regardless of whether the e-car is type 1 or type 2. There are many ESWE charging stations (opens in a new tab) directly in the city centre.
